Dear cats, stop stealing my coasters!

I have a set of coasters that are made of felted wool (knitted by me of course). They are very absorbent and make great coasters. They also attract cats like crazy. In the middle of the night, one of our cats steals the felted wool coasters and leaves them on the floor in the hallway.

Using a multi-colored wool yarn that had been given to me as a gift, I recently knitted up a rectangle and felted it.  Felting rarely turns out a perfect square, so I had to trim the edges to make a coaster.

I rolled up the extra felted material, added a bow and call my creation a cat toy. So, dear cats, stop stealing my coasters!

Just finished! In almost record time for me when not under a gift deadline. I knitted this hat (ravelry link, login required, pattern from knit alone together) for my uncle who is in the hospital for cancer treatment. I figured his head might get cold. I’m happy with how it turned out and also that fact that his prognosis is good.  Got it in the mail this evening to Pennsylvania. Molly dog and I walked to the post office and mailed it using that super annoying automated postal center. At least it worked tonight. Nothing’s worse than walking a mile to the post office to find out the machine is broken.

Do my cedar trees need a coat?

I cannot wait to go see the knitted trees at the Blanton museum! They’re part of the exhibit “A Knitted Wonderland”.

They’ve got some photos up on the project’s Facebook page.  I’m a fan of the bright spring time colors. Awesome work knittaplease!

It makes me wonder if my group of cedar trees in the front yard need me to knit them coats! After all, I’ve been trying to slowly make my front yard more “Austin-y” and knitted tree covers would help me towards that goal!

Found a new (to me) local yarn store called Gauge Knits. It’s much closer to home than the others I previously knew about. It organizes yarn by the gauge so when you’re looking for a specific gauge for a project, it’s very easy to find what you’re after!
I went to the shop to get some yarn for a special project for a special person that could use a little extra care right now. I plan to turn it into this hat (found on Ravelry)
